Interceptor Isolation Valve & Chamber
Description
An adjustable height chamber for housing an interseptor or forecourt seporator isolation valve on a filling station or parking area or anywhere where fuel or oil and chemical spillages might occur. Within the chamber pre mounted is a 4 or 6" isolation valve that can be manually or electrically operated. The purpose of the valve is to safely shut the out let from the interceptor or separator in the event of a spill or other event which may lead to soluable chemicals which are not separated by containment chamber simply passing out into drains and watercourses. Event such as fire fight an EV fire result in large quantities of contaminated water being used to put out the fire. This water and the chemical within are not filtered by a separator and will simply flow off the property and contanminate the local environment. This polution is the responsibility of the site owner and therefore the clean up costs for such a spill event maybe back charged to the site. Interceptor isolation valves ensure that the contamination remains on site to allow it to be dealt with by a suitablely qualified waste contractor.
The design recommendations for petrol filling stations recommend that such isolation devices are installed on all sites where such contamination could arise, this is not just petrol stations but any parking or transfer area where vehicles are parked or under going maintenance or repair.
This chamber simplifies the installation of such a valve and ensures its maintanability to ensure its functionality when operated in an event of a spill etc.It comes complete with a manhole cover to suit the loading within the area. In this case a D400 load rated cover. Also supplied is a height adjustable key which allows the valve to be operated from ground level since some outlets from interceptors are set at the considerable depth below the surface and reaching the valve to operate is therefore difficult. The key is designed to be left within the chamber so that it is available on site at all times.
Other depths of chambers are available to suit your site requirements if you have any questions please ask and we will be happy to assist you in selecting the correct unit to suit your needs.
